Up to 80% of women report experiencing symptoms between ovulation and the start of their menstrual periods. Acne, bloating, breast tenderness, fatigue, trouble sleeping, moodiness and either constipation or diarrhea are all common complaints.
Often, the severity of these symptoms interferes with normal daily activities and naturopathic interventions can make your cycles much more tolerable.
PMS has many causes and must be addressed by looking at many health factors including diet, lifestyle habits and hormone imbalances. Symptoms may get worse with a high salt diet, caffeine and alcohol consumption, or during more stressful periods.
In addition, other issues can contribute to PMS including adrenal problems, thyroid conditions and sluggish liver function.
Generally, when patients with PMS find relief of their hormonal symptoms, they also experience an improved sense of well-being in other parts of their health.
